The latest trend in baby nursery furniture is the gorgeous canopy crib. You cannot go wrong with this choice of baby sleep equipment. My best friend just decorated her newborn baby girl’s nursery with an amazing canopy crib from Restoration Hardware Baby. It is a worn-silvery color and she picked a beautiful soft pink and grey bedding set to go with it. I wish I would have chosen such a designer style for our daughter’s room, but instead I went with a bolder color palette of bright fuchsia and aqua.

To compliment the canopy crib you could go with the distressed white changing table, or a black wood changing table and dresser would work just as nicely as white. In addition to a crib, changing table, and dresser, you should also plan on buying a reclining glider which will be a place where you will spend many hours holding, feeding, and rocking your little one to bed before naps and nighttime. Be sure to have an end table placed next to the glider so that you will have a place to put your water bottle, cell phone, and maybe even a small CD player to play soothing music for your little baby.

The canopy crib is definitely the “it” piece of nursery furniture right now. Most of the celebrity moms who have recently had babies have purchased canopy cribs for their newborns. If you decide to go with a canopy crib for your baby, rest assured you will be the most popular mom in your “new mommies” group in your neighborhood. It will be a joy to show off your nursery to your friends and family and they will love your taste in baby furniture. It is a great choice because the canopy crib is a timeless piece. You can add in antique pieces to compliment it and they will go perfectly.

A great idea for a lighting fixture in the nursery with a canopy crib is a small antique-looking chandelier for the center of the room. Do not install the chandelier directly above the crib since that would pose a safety risk to the baby. One made of some type of crystal would be absolutely gorgeous in a baby girl’s room. For a baby boy’s room, you would probably not want to do a chandelier, but something a bit more masculine. But then again, if you are thinking of a canopy crib, I would bet money it would be for a baby girl and not a baby boy.
