Two Week Wait

The two week wait can be the longest period of time you will ever experience when you are trying to have a baby. It is so frustrating when you know that you are ready to be a mom and you have to live your life in fourteen day increments – since it takes approximately fourteen days for the first half of your cycle and then another fourteen days until you can take a pregnancy test. Thankfully, there are things you can do to make the time go by faster. For starters, you can exercise to pass the hours of free time you have. Especially since, if you are in fact pregnant, you will be gaining weight over the next nine months – it wouldn’t hurt to lose a pound or two while you are waiting to find out your status.

Another thing you might want to do so that you do not drive yourself crazy waiting until you can take a pregnancy test is to join an online community of other women who are also trying to become pregnant. This is so helpful because you can ask each other questions and support each other with words of encouragement and no one has to know who you really are. Many women who do this end up finding a group of online friends who they can count on to provide advice and answers when they need help. There are many websites out there where women hang out and talk about everything from ovulation calendars to the early signs of pregnancy in an effort to educate each other and help each other. You can create an avatar for yourself so that you have an online profile and a fun user name. Many of these forums have a separate place you can go to chat online with your friends once you actually do become knocked up. Then once you have the baby there is another forum which is set aside for each of the months of the year. So whichever month your little one is born, that is the chat room you can post in to talk with other mothers of kids the same age. It really is a neat concept.

When I was trying to have a baby, I remember marking my daytimer with my two week wait days. I would note my ovulation calendar and mark the days I was most fertile, and then I would count out fourteen days from there to estimate when I could take a pregnancy test. It worked for me and soon after I got my positive pregnancy result, I was definitely feeling the early signs of pregnancy.
