Prenatal Yoga Classes

Prenatal yoga classes are a great way to keep in shape during your pregnancy and they are fun too. You can search online for classes in your area and I am sure you will have more than one studio to choose from since it is becoming more and more popular these days. If you have a friend who is also expecting, you could sign up together to keep each other motivated to attend every week. One of my best girlfriends was having a baby at the same time I was and she told me about the class she was taking and said I should join her. I immediately signed up and I am so glad that I did. Not only did I enjoy the class – the poses were so relaxing and the music the teacher used was very soothing – but she and I always made plans to go out to dinner after the class and we had a great time catching up with each other over a healthy meal.
If you are interested in prenatal yoga classes but are having a hard time finding class offerings in your area, you should definitely head to your local library because they may have a selection of prenatal yoga DVDs or VHS tapes that you could borrow and do from the comfort of your own home. These are nice because you can pop them in whenever you have time rather than having to wait for a certain day of the week to go to a class. I frequently would check the library for what was available so that I could supplement the class I was taking with additional sessions at home. It helped me stay limber and I noticed that the more I practiced, the better I became at doing the challenging poses.
Prenatal yoga is a great way to help you prepare for childbirth because it teaches you how to do relaxed deep breathing which is very beneficial to know during labor. With each contraction you will want to know how to breathe your way through them and by learning in class you will be that much more prepared. Once your baby is born you may even decide to keep practicing by taking a Mommy and Me yoga class. It’s a fun way to spend time with your little one while exercising too!
