My Chances Of Getting Pregnant

If you are at the point where you are definitely ready to start a family then you are probably wondering: what are my chances of getting pregnant? The fact is, every month a woman only has about a twenty percent chance of becoming pregnant and that is only if all of the factors which influence fertility are favorable. What I mean by that is that the reproductive environment is accommodating to the little swimmers so that they can reach their final destination and fertilize the egg. Many times a couple has absolutely no idea that they usual lubricant they use could be preventing pregnancy. And sometimes a woman’s cervical fluid is not adequate enough or slippery enough to keep the sperm alive, thus not allowing them to make their way up to the uterus to do their job of fertilizing the egg. There really are a lot of things to think about when it comes to planning your pregnancy. Especially if you happen to have a mental illness such as bipolar disorder and need to work with a doctor to manage your meds while trying to conceive.

In order to truly understand the chances of getting pregnant each month, you should take the time to go online and look up your ovulation calendar. It is a simple tool which allows you to type in the date of your last menstrual period and from there it spits out detailed information about the time of the month you can expect to be most fertile. Some even give you this information for the entire year. Another great online tool I have found helpful when trying to plan a pregnancy is a due date finder. With this fertility tool you can play around with it by typing in the date of your last menstrual period and it can tell you when you would expect your baby to be delivered. Most of them work in reverse, so if you want to try to have a baby during a certain month, it can tell you then when you should try to conceive. This was helpful for my friend who is a teacher and wanted to be sure they had a spring baby. The due date finder told her to conceive during the summer months of June or July which she did, and she is now expecting a March baby. This will give her a ton of time home with the baby before she goes back to school in the fall since she’ll take her maternity leave after the birth and she’ll also have all summer off. It’s the perfect situation for her and it was possible because she was aware of her chances of becoming pregnant each month.
