Choosing a baby car seat for your new baby is so incredibly important. There are tons of different baby car seats on the market these days. You can look up the safety record of each car seat by manufacturer. Once you find the safest car seat for your baby, then you can start to look at the colors and designs that you like. It’s important that the car seat be a good fit for your vehicle. Some car seats are a lot bigger than others and may not work well in a compact car.

You never want to buy a used car seat because you would not be able to find out whether that car seat had been in an accident. So then your car turns into a 4 person vehicle versus a 5 person vehicle. That is annoying to me, but there really is not any way of getting around it. I guess you can only have a skinny person sit in the middle seat in the back then.

There is a cool stroller on the market which lets you attach your infant car seat to it and create a lightweight stroller. It’s called the Snap-and-Go stroller and there are other versions of it that work just the same. I use the Snap-and-Go with my infant car seat all the time. It makes it so easy to go shopping with my baby when I can just take her car seat out of the car and pop it into the Snap-and-Go and we’re off and running. The Snap-and-Go even has a basket in the bottom for storage and a double cup holder on the handle along with a compartment for stuff like my cell phone or keys.

Car seats are one of the most expensive baby items you will need to buy, but they are the most important. You are not allowed to leave the hospital with your baby until you have your car seat installed. Most fire stations will do car seat inspections so if you install your car seat and then take it to your local fire station you can have them check it for you to make sure you installed it properly. Better safe than sorry!
